Mary Ward Centre

This is the resource website for the Mary Ward Centre for community and adult learning, a partner in the Mid-life Career Review project. The site provides links to general websites and resources, but specifically about careers in the visual arts and crafts sector.



The unionlearn website has a Supporting Learners area with dedicated pages about Supporting Midlife Development. This links to a comprehensive resource base located on the Climbing Frame website.


Workplace Learning Advocates

The WLA approach is an initiative for employees, led by employees. WLAs work in non-unionised workplaces and support colleagues to take up learning opportunities. Resources for Career Reviews are included on their website.


Higher Learning at Work

Higher Learning at Work is a Unionlearn website with information about different types of higher learning suitable for the workplace.


The University of the Third Age

U3A stands for the University of the Third Age, which is a self-help organisation for people no longer in full time employment providing educational, creative and leisure opportunities. The U3A approach to learning is – learning for pleasure. There is no accreditation or validation and there are no assessments or qualifications to be gained. Tutors are volunteers.
